Merry Christmas - Loved hearing Him!

(Note: Jed wrote this at about 6:00 a.m. his time. He was up and to a computer center to send this email before calling us!)

Good morning/good evening! How are you all? I am so excited to call you an a little bit about an 40 min from now.

This week was fast! Christmas and service; it was great! This week I have been singing a lot more than I have been in the last year, all about Christmas. Our ward had a party where we got to perform a song for the two wards that where there. We sang Oh Holy Night. We had a few things that we could have worked out a bit better but in the end we did not have a ton of time to practice to get it sounding perfect. I liked it. Well I'm going to write president Grimley so I can get home to call you all!!!

Marta's notes from our phone call:

Elder H is fabulous! He testified of so many tender mercies... a golden contact met at a stop light (bike to scooter) on the way to the Christmas party a week ago, who asked where a church was nearby, then followed them to the church, and said she had just recently lost her Grandmother, and was searching for meaning in life. It was a girl, posing possible problems for this set of Elders to teach, tender mercy - the Sister missionaries were in the church, there to help the Elders prepare for the Christmas Party. Let's see, teach a discussion or prepare for a party? Not an issue! J said they gave the first discussion, enjoyed the party, and the Sisters have had a couple follow up lessons in the last week! Yea! Then on Christmas Eve they had a elderly lady they were teaching whose grandson had joined the church. She was baptized that night by her Grandson (see picture)! Awesome! Then Christmas afternoon they had an appointment with a part member family they have been working with, praying for, and the Mom called and asked J & his companion to come early because her husband had asked if they could teach him that night prior to their dinner. Windows of heaven opened and the spirit was strong, questions answered, and that was just last night, but he said he was way excited that this family could have such a beautiful gift of their Father joining the church for a Christmas gift this year! He said he was asking great questions, and the spirit was there in abundance testifying of truth, and the questions were resolved. He is hopeful! Tons of Tender mercies! I am so grateful that he is fully engaged, teaching and testifying! Thank you Father for answering prayers and opening hearts to hear!

We got to talk to him for an hour, as outlined by his Mission President, and we obeyed that rule. We wrapped up the reuniting conversations with each member of the family within 50 minutes, and then B offered a family prayer together! I am so grateful for the power of God on the earth! I am grateful for my beautiful family!

Christmas Call Soon, Transfers. Sisters headed Home

Family:
Hey awesome family Good evening. Today is a bit earlier than usual. Today I get to try to do a bunch of stuff. Today we have a sister that is moving up to Taipei do the the fact that my sister missionary's are going home!!! The sister missionary's that came on with me are going home this week! Some of the sisters need to go up and move, so they wanted to go as a district and have breakfast before they left as a district/zone. We are going to have about 6 to 8 people going. So anyway that's why it's earlier that usual.

Thank's to the Ward members for the Twelve days of Christmas! You must have sent it through Grandpa Val's friends? I didn't recognize the address or the name on the box. Thank you. It has been fun.

This week has been fun...we had a baptism for an 18 year old kid named lin2 xiao4 kai3. He is a great kid. He is the second kid in his family and is at work getting ready to go to college. He is taking the college entrance test next year and so he is getting ready for that.

Ok so I'll right you some more is a sec. How was the reserve? I hope that you had a fun time.

Thank you for the update on the ward. You are awesome. Thank you for all that you do for me. I need to go. Sorry this week I needed to talk to President about with stuff in this zone. I love you all so much. Know that I love you all. I'll email you next week!

Quick Week in December 2011

Hey Awesome Family here it is again! Another week gone with the wind and a new one has come. How was your week? What happened this week? What are you all up to this week? Hope that you all are doing well.

This week was good went by quick. It was week 6 of the transfer and so we had move calls and all the end of the transfer stuff that comes with that. This week a member took us to a all you can eat place that was cool those are almost everywhere. It was cool how they did it. Yu got there and take your shoes off to sit down at the table. Like there was a hole around the table that you put your feet in, like the table was in the hole and you sat around it. It was fun. Later move calls. This next transfer I will be in zhubei with Elder Bogle for another one, it is going to be fun. I'm excited for it. Wow it is already Dec 5th. Wow, Elder Bogle and I where talking about how fast time is going by. Spring is going to be here before we know it.

This week we are going to be getting ready for a baptism for a guy named lin2 xiao1 kai3. He is 18 years old and had been meeting with the missionary's for awhile now. His testimony is awesome. He is 18 years old but if you where to talk to him on the phone you would think that he is a lot older. Anyway he is getting a baptism interview this week to be baptized on the 17th. So that is cool we are excited for that.

Last Sunday (yesterday) was cool I went to church and was about to walk upstairs so we could go to sacrament meeting. I walked around the corner and I saw Brother Xu. He was one of my investigators in Tianmu. He and his wife had come to zhubei to visit me and see how I was doing. It was so much fun to see him. He was the one who wanted me to go and baptize him on Oct 29. Well he came with his wife. It was really fun to see them, they are doing well.

So a bit about the photos: we went to the bishops house last night for dinner and had a friend join us for the meal. The bishop told us that they where good to eat if we wanted it for dinner. We told him that we would wait till next time for that chance because his wife had already got dinner ready. It was fun.

Wow you all are so involved in so much. Thank you for your examples. Know that I love you.

Dad: Thank you for all that you do! Thank you for all that you teach us; always giving and leading us to go and help others. Thank you for setting such a great amazing example of good and love. Thank you. I love you. Thank you for so much good.

Mom: Wow I'm glad that you all are safe. You are awesome and do so much. Thank you. I love you. Be healthy. Be safe. Thank you for stories.

L: Wow you made a wedding cake? Wow you go girl. That's a huge project. Who was it for? You told me the name but I don't remember that name. Anyway that sounds awesome. Way to go. Enjoy this time you still have at home. WOW I just saw the photos!!! Wow!

C: Bro I love the photo on your email. Just the one that you have on your account. Have you been biking lately? What you been up to? Keep working hard.

Ok I need to go. I love you all. Thank you for the emails.

Dad, Mom. this year for christmas. I am good. I have so much, thank you for all that you do for me for teaching me to go and do. Thanks for teaching me how to do hard things. The only thing that I might need in awhile is a pair of slacks, but I think that those will be cheaper to get here in Taiwan. Thank you for all that you do.

I love you. I know that we are known and that we are heard and that our Father in Heaven loves us and know our needs. I love Him. I know that he lives. I know that our older Brother Jesus lives and that He will help all of us.

Love you need to go.

Distributor Meeting

OK first, J, Happy Birthday!!!!! Happy Birthday Bro. I hope that it was good, that you had fun. Then Happy Thanksgiving. How was it? I hope that you all had a great year. I thought about you as that day went on. I hope that you all know that I'm grateful for you and that I hope that you all know that I love you. I am also grateful for this time to be out here on the mission. I am grateful for the help that the Lord has given me and will continue to give me as I continue to help Him.

Well lets see I have a few photos, that go along with some sweet stories. OK so one of them is a photo of a bunch of people sitting down with candles, I'll start with that one. Last Sunday we had a member bring some co-workers with him to church. My companion went and talked to them and got to know them for a sec, he said that they didn't really have any interest and that they said that they did not want to meet but that they where cool. Well the next day that member calls us up and is like hey remember that friend that I brought to church, they want to invite you to share why you are here in Taiwan, and what you are doing here. Sweet member referral! So he asks us if we could do it on Wednesday night. We had English class and we told him that but we told him that we had like ten min that we could do it. He said "Sweet I'll set it up." OK so Wednesday comes and we get a ride over and start walking up the stairs, and I notice that there are a bunch of candles on the stairs, one per stair. OK, so what, no big. We get father up and there start to be balloons as well so I tell my companion that it could be that someone's getting married and that it is like a member. Well we get up to the top where we are going to meet this guy, his girlfriend, and this member. Well we walk in and there is like 15 people in the room. Ok this is weird what is going on here? They are watching a movie and the member comes out and says "Hey sweet they just want you to share why you are here and what you are doing here and what you are doing here." OK whatever, I notice that on the tables that are glass that there is two bottles of what looks like wine on each table, with wine glasses next to them. OK weird. Well like 3 min after we walk in they say we would like to welcome Bao zhang lao (Elder Bogel). Interesting. So we get up there in the center and they all are just looking at us and so we start talking about the Gospel. We got into Heavenly Father a bit, but they only wanted us to take about ten min. The actual thing took about 5 min then the head guy who came to church kinda took over. Turns out this was a big berry juice thing that they where selling and they where having a distributors meeting, and they wanted us to give like a motivational speech. Well we needed to leave shortly after that.

Well that was fun. Then the next photo was on Thanksgiving thinking about you all. Love you all.

Lets see this week was fun we had zone conferance and we also did a bunch of companion exchanges, it has gone by quick.

You all are so awesome. thank you for the photos, and the note J, S, B, L, C, S, Mom, Dad.. You are so awesome. I'm thankful for you. Thank you for them. I love you all so much. I hope that you know that. You all are so awesome. Know that I love you. Thank you for all that you do. I'll talk to you next week

Love you

Happy Thanksgiving & Agency

Hey awesome family how has this week been? Jakob Happy Birthday big boy. Smile for me.

Happy Thanksgiving, wow it's here again. I love this time of year. This week has been great. Know that I am grateful for you all. You have been on my thoughts. So you changed times last week. Taiwan does not do that and so we are emailing at the sametime here but it will get there at a diffrent time. It is 6:00am right now. Sounds like you all had a blast yesterday. Wow 28 people that's a lot of people there 14 couples (to dinner for the Sr. Dinner/Date)? You all are awesome thank you for your example of doing good.

So last week I told you all that we where going to have a party for Thanksgiving. It was great. We had chicken, white mashed potatos, sweet potatos, pie, costco rolls, and stuffing. It was a fun party. Not quite the real thing, but close. Everyone that came loved it. It was good to get a taste of home.

This week was good, we worked hard, and we met a lot of people. There was a day Thursday I think, that it was raining hard. We where soaked and everyone was rejecting us. That day changed my view a bit. I just realized how small I am and how much our Father in Heaven loves us, how sometimes we without knowing anything about what he is trying to give us reject it. We just tell him "I don't need it," "Can it help me have money?" "Can it make me not go to work? If not I don't need it, and I don't want it." Sad. I love these people so much, I just want to share a life changing message with them, but sometimes they don't even give it a chance. I thank our Father in Heaven for giving us the ability and the right to choose. I hope that as we go through life we make the right choices.

Last week I went on two exchanges, as zone leaders we go on about two a week, and so time seems to be going by faster than normal because you are always going on exchanges all over, and helping out where you can. This last week there was a training that 38 people attended and so my companion Elder Bogle and myself had the duty for food. We found a place that sells curry, soup, rice and a thing called moutianmellon tea (dong1gua2cha2). It tastes somewhat like watered down homemade
rootbeer, it tastes good. So ya, we got to plan that, in the end the bill was 3600 quai. Which is about $120 U.S. that's not bad, it ended up feeding 40 people because we ate it as well. So that was good.

So today I get to go look at a bag. Here in Taiwan they use a train system and you can take your bike on the train as long as it is bagged. So in my zone we have a few places that take about an hour to get to by train and so we are going to try to find a cheap way to bag our bikes so we can just go down and split and do work. We'll see what we find. Then yesterday was Mexican Revolution day and so today we are also going to go and eat some Mexican food. There is one place in xinzhu that sells it. So we'll see how that goes.

Thank you Dad for helping me out by talking to coach about dates. Dad, Mom, thank you for all that you do. Thank you for your example. You are amazing. Thank you for teaching me to work hard and for teaching me how to listen, to think, and for giving me so much. Thank you for teaching me that if we do our part and trust the Lord we can do anything. I was talking about miricles and the power of faith with Elder Bogle and I can count how many times I have seen "Miricles" because we asked the Lord and did our part. I'm thinking about the youth fireside out by the Santa Clara river wow that would have been three four years ago now, the 4th of july. So many! Thank you for your example. I have been giving away rolls of paper so people can make a grateful list. Thank you. I love you.

Thank you for your emails.

American Thanksgiving in Taiwan

Hey awesome family wow it's here again. I'm so grateful for the chance that I have to know you.

Wow you all moved flagstone... 300+- Pounds that's heavy, how did you move it? I hope you where careful. Way to work though. I bet it looks awesome. I love you. Sounds like you are getting cold there. I heard that New England had over a foot of snow before Halloween, Crazy. It is getting cooler here but not nearly that cold. The other day I was riding my bike out to hukou on exchanges and it was raining thinking how much funner it would be if it was snowing instead. My companion for that exchange was an Elder Terry, from Enterprise. He's a cool Elder. While out there wow we went and visited one of my former investigators. They are formers because they are always going to China, really just outside of Taiwan, but wow they are amazing. They leave for China this week and can't meet until Dec 7th. so I'll keep you posted on that story. This family has a 24 yr old daughter that had started to read the Book of Mormon (B.O.M) last time, about a year ago then got flooded with anti Mormon stuff then stoped. I called them up yesterday to see if they could come to church, and she had already read through 1 Nephi 15 and was loving it so hopefuly they keep reading it this time. We'll have to wait until Dec 8,9,10 something like that. Anyway kinda big tangent, when we went out there it was raining and they told us that they could give us a ride in their car because it was raining, but we told them that is was not snowing yet like we kinda wished it was and so we would be ok.

Ok so this week, it is crazy. I am starting to realize a bit of how long I have been out here. As I look at the mission there are like three groups that are from America that are above me that have served longer but other than that, my group is it. Crazy. My sisters, the ones that came on with me go home next transfer, crazy. I'm grateful for the chance that I have to be serving the Lord. Anyway this week, we found a Pumpkin Pie!!!!! Costco, I love you. We found it for 229 quai. It's a bit up there in prices, but it was not a choice. Once we found that we knew that we needed to share this happyness and taste from America with everyone so today we are having a Thanksgiving party. Even though it is next week we are going to do it today and it's going to be a blast. Thank you for a Costco card. We were there and got a bag of chicken, 10 pounds of potatoes, 10 pounds of sweet potatoes, two pies, some corn and Costco dinner rolls, stuff for stuffing (that's going to be fun trying to make)! It's going to be sweet. I'm really excited.

So L, sounds like you are excited getting ready. I is going to be fun. You know all you really need for cooking is a rost-pot and a cast iron pan, the rest you can do with a knife and chopsticks. It's all you need... ok well maybe it would be nice to have a few other things but that's about it.

Lets see I need to type a email to my mission president for a sec, then I'll write another one to you all.

So guess what Julian got baptised, I got to baptize him last Friday. I included some photos of that.

Well I need to go. I love you all. Know that I love you. Thank you for your example.

Love you all,
Elder J Harr

Transferred, new routine

Hey awesome Family another week has come and gone already. Wow is time speeding up?

Brinley Happy Birthday. I hope that you have a good one. You're awesome. Thank you for the emails that you send me. Have a happy Birthday. Know that I love you.

Thank you for the photos, looks like there were some fun cars at SEMA. I loved that the Cars we like the most, seem to be the tallest. Wow C, your hair is really blond or even white, cool. Looks like you all are doing good thank you for all that you do.

November is here. Wow crazy, I was talking to my companion, we decided that because we didn't get a chance to have a Halloween party that we would have one in the middle between Thanksgiving and Halloween, so today we are going to get some of the stuff for it, hence we get to go next to the jeep shop, the next favorite store, Costco. Thank you for a Costco card. We are going to pool some money and do mash potato's, a meat, not sure if it will be chicken or ham yet, pumpkin something pie and cookies? not really sure yet. Thank you for teaching me.

This week has been good we have been busy. We have gone up to Taibei twice this week, which is a big thing because it takes about two hours to get there, and so about four hours a travel each time. But it's ok. We where still able to get a lot done and had a great week. This week Julian will be baptized. Last week there was some miscommunication and he couldn't be baptized because of it, and so it got bumped to this week. Also the Brother Xu in Tianmu got baptized and I heard that he did a great job. I hear that he shared a great testimony after he was baptized and everyone felt the spirit. I love being able to know good people that help so many people; that set such a good example for the rest of us.

This week we have a little slower week, just two exchanges, then the baptism. So it will be fun to get to do some work. What is coming up on your calender this week? I am sure that you are doing several good things.

How is everyone there? How is college? When are finals? December.

How is Jared? What have you heard? Last I heard he was finishing up his papers.
Thank you for all that you do!

Temple Time, Attitude & Goals

Hello Awesome family guess what, it is temple week. I get to go to the temple this morning sorry that I was not able to tell you earlier.

This week has been busy, and as I go on exchanges with everyone it is interesting to hear about and learn about all that different problems that are all over. There is an important thing that I have learned. Choose, sit down and think for a sec. Make up your mind and choose, then love your decision. There are a few people that are in my zone that have not chosen who or what they want to be or who they are. They are out in the mission field and they have not chosen to be a missionary yet in the field, and because of that they are causing more trouble and are more in the way then they do good. I know that I need to learn, but we need to choose. We need to have know that the Lord in in control of this earth and it is all going to go according to his plan anyway, so why fight it? It is so much funner to be in the winning team. Something else that I have learning this week is the fact that when we have made a decision we need to be 100% committed to it. Listen to others around you, and realize that what they are saying has a reason. Sorry, I have learned a lot this week about that. I am reminded of a quote "Be careful who's advise you buy, BUT be patient with those who supply it." I think that we all can learn a bit from this saying. We should listen and really think if this is in line with the Lord's way and if it is then we need to think about it.

How are you all? Thank you for the letters. S sorry that your not feeling well, get better. L thank you for that note, that is neat and thank you for sharing with me. Thank you for all that you all have already taught me. You all are awesome.

OK I am going to be sending a box with some stuff home. Is there anything that you would like from Taiwan? I am doing well as far a stuff goes. Shoes, I have a Costco not too far from my house and so I'm good that way.

This week I am so excited to go to the temple. I can't wait. I'm going to love it. I am grateful for all that the Lord has given me and I am really grateful for the knowledge that we are able to repent. We must do it. We have got to do it. Must. There is no other way, and so we need to do it everyday! I know that this Church is the church of our Lord and I am so grateful for all that we have that teaches us about our Father in Heaven. I know that he is real. I know that through our Father we can do everything.

I need to write my Mission Pres. Thank you. I love you all so much.

I love you all thank you for much for all that you do.

101 - 2nd Tallest Bldg in the World, Transfer & Zone Leader

Wow What a week Sounds Like you all had fun, and are doing well thank you for your example. You all are outstanding.

This week was fun. so I'll start with some photos from last P-day. We decided that it was a nice day and so instead of just going to the base of it we went up in it. Fun stuff. So we took our fake glasses and took a bunch of photos. Funny. I'm not a fan but it makes for some funny photos. It is funny to see people from Taiwan who are wearing them to stop and look again. So anyway some photos from that day. I have some other photos that I want to send you so you can see what I've been up to. so....

Ok so here we go this week. Well this week was good, we stayed busy but maybe not quite as busy as you all. Sounds like you all are doing great things. Singing, Baptisms and Eagle Courts and so much more. Thank you for the update. Sounds like you all are doing amazing this week. Thank you.

Ok this week, like I said we did good this week. This was week six and so it is always interesting telling our investigators that we might move on Monday and that they should come to stake conference this week at the stake center by the temple. Anyway, this week week was fun, and I'm moving. Friday I got a phone call from President Grimley, he doesn't call very often at all, so it is interesting I would kind of, ok really kind of, say it feels like the prophet is calling you, and some how you know that from the phone number. Ya you start to rethink the last week just to make sure that you are ok. Well I 'm ok. I picked up the phone and said "hello" and long story short he asked if I was in DPS(Daily planning session). I told him "Yes" and that we had just done our prayer. Anyway getting to the point he told me that I was going to move to ZHUBEI. I am moving back to the xinzhu zone. He also told me that I am going to be a zone leader with one of the Elders that I was in the Mtc with Elder Bogle I think thats right. He is really cool. He is a convert. He has spent almost all of his mission down there in that zone. So another awesome thing is that, do you remember Julian? from Xin Feng? Well I found him with Elder Barllow... He went on the student exchange, he is going to be baptized next Friday!! And when he heard that I was going to move back, he asked if I could do it. Fun stuff. You see the area's got changed up and so they devided the Xingfeng and the zhubei areas in half and so I am basically going back to my old area. Wow, it will be fun. I am happy to go back and see some old friends. But it is also a bit sad to leave the friends here. There is a investigator Xu I don't think I have told you a ton about him or his family yet, but he is awesome and he is going to be baptized next Saturday. He has also asked me to help him be baptized, but the problem in is that in order for me to come and baptize him it is a two hour train ride here and then another two hours back, and the train is not cheep. I also need to get Presidents permission in order to do it. So we'll see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

Ok my comp needs my photocard so to be cont...

S, you are setting an example, thank you so much for that example, thank you for teaching us how to follow Jesus Christ. Remember that He loves you. Remember that He is never going to forget you. He will always love you no matter what you do or where you go He will be there. Know that I was thinking about you.

C, congrats on getting the Eagle. Way to work hard and get it. Nice job. I wish I could have been there for it. know that I love you and that I thought about you.

L, Wow you are in the tabernacle singing that's awesome. Thank you for your example to all us spending your time on something that is beautiful. Thank you for teaching us.

Ok well Halloween is next Monday, are you all excited? Thank you for the Root beer mix. It will be loved and used for sure. I gave my companion Elder Reynolds some and he is going to make some next week. Thank you. It is close to gold, if it is not already.

Umm, right now my shoes are ok but one pair is definitely more used than the other. If you are sending a package could you put those in? Thank you. Elder Adam is right. I have tried to make rice crispies once before and we used frosted flakes - not quite the same. Other than that right now I am doing great. Thank you.

So funny story, my bike has been sent to zhubei, and so I have borrowed a bike that is a small lady's single speed bike. It's fun trying not to hit your knees on the handle bars but race from appointment to appointment. I'll send a photo next week.

Ok I need to write President Grimley, I'll send you a quick note before I checkout.

Hey I got to go, love you all so much. I'll talk to you next week.
love you all

What is something that you have learned recently?

Example/Influence

Wow What a week. This is week five, and so the transfer is wrapping up and coming to a close, but not for another week. Last week was interesting we where working hard but we were consistently being stood up with our member so it was tough. But oh well. It's the name of the game. This week I realized just how blessed I am for my examples in my life. This last week I went on an exchange with a companionship that one is a short term missionary just for another week and he is going home in two transfers. The second is struggling with feeling like a failure. I am so grateful for the examples that have taught me so much about life about how even when it seems like we are always pushing, working, sweating, and it seams like no one notices that later on it really does change the world. Thank you Dad for your example. I told him about your friend in England, who still is learning about the Church and the Gospel, but remembers you and thanked you for your time and example to him and taking the time to teach him. Thank you for your example and teaching me. We have no idea how much our lives will or will not influence others in the long run, but we do know what our personal effort is, and is not, that is what will determine whether or not we are successful. Thank you for teaching me that. Thank you for helping me grow to a point that I could come to Taiwan and teach this Gospel to the people here.

This week has been cloudy I don't think that I have seen a day without clouds in the sky for two or three weeks. I have seen the sun a bit but no completely clear days. It's all good.

Thank you for the package. The books are sweet. Thank you for the candy's (Laffy Taffy). In my English class we talked about the jokes on the back of them. Thank you for the mix. I have not had a chance to make them yet, but thank you for it, it will be enjoyable.

This week I realized something. This transfer I have played basketball on a indoor gym once this transfer. Wow I need to fix that. I told my companion, that might be why we have so many people standing us up because we have not played basketball in forever. He likes to play basketball, and so he agreed that we need to play, but we will see. Today looks like it might be a nice day to go up 101 and there is a design expo that is going on. Anyway, if not today, next week for sure. In part because "Move-day madness," everyone is at the mission home to move to their new areas, so we have fun.

So how is home? How are you all? How many directions are you all going this week? Has the famous monkey visited you all yet? How is Jared? Also I don't have an address for Chris. Can you send that to me? That would be great. Also how is everyone else down there. School is in and so I'm guessing that most are back at school. What has been the biggest changes in the ward? Do you see anyone from my grad year? I don't hear from anyone other than from you all so keep me posted. Any weddings? Anyone moving?

Crazy just how fast time is going by. President Grimley told me in our interview last week that he will need to know in January if I want to go home on July 3rd or Aug 14th. Wow crazy. This year is almost gone. Not very long.

Hey lookes like the roundup was fun. I like to hear that everyone is safe and that it was a good time.

Wow. You all are so amazing. I love you all so much. Thank you for your example. I love you all so much. Thanks for the Update. You are Awesome + Amazing = Harr Family. Conference Was Great!

Wow what a great conference! I loved it and I am so grateful to have had the chance to listen and learn. I loved it,I had several that I liked and that I thought where great, I had several questions about how to held my district, about how to help my investigators, companion, and myself how do I become, or make sure that I am the missionary that the Lord wants me to become? I thought that I heard talks about every question, as answers to my questions. I Love this Gospel. I know that President Monson is Called of our Father in Heaven and that he and the other leaders are called to lead us back home.

Sounds like you all are having a great time back there. WOW last week was my one year in Taiwan Crazy. I've learned alot, and still have alot more to learn. I love this work. This week I learned about attitude. I have had several lessons about that this week. I know that this is where I need to be and that this is where I must be, but for some reason I needed to learn alot this last week. I am still learning, I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon and for the knowledge that we can learn and get from it. I love it. I love spreading the Gospel with others. so Many people don't understand anything about church, Christ, of the scriptures that it is always amazing me. wow.

Thank you for the package that you sent those books are great. I just got it last Friday. the sisters went to the Mission office and brought it back for me thank you. it is so fun. thank you for those. the cookies. are great. they had some stuff on them and so I'm not sure when you sent it, but they taste good anyway. thank you so much!!

"Dare to be a Mormon,
Dare to make it known,
Dare to have a purpose firm,
and Dare to make it known."President Monson,
Something that I loved I'm grateful that you all have taught me to stand out.

Conference Weekend

"Hello" Thank you for the letters, I'll be better able to understand now that you told me that. Thank you for the note. Thank you for the letter. Sounds like you all are very busy and having fun at the same time. I am glad to hear that all is well and that all are happy and healthy. Thank you for the photos of Sara. Wow Sara they are beautiful, baptism is so special. You'll remember it for the rest of your life. Thank you. Sounds like everyone is going several different directions and that is a good thing. Also sounds like conference was good. Yes, we will watch it next week here and so we are going to get ready. Today we are going to go to Costco and get some things that go with the season and would be fun to share with the investigators that come to conference. We'll see what happens. We are thinking about just doing something very simple, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We'll see, that is most likely. Thank you for your example in always doing good.

The biggest news this week is that over the weekend we had a baptism! This man is Li3 Di xiong. He had been an investigator for awhile. Missionaries first started to meet with him last January and he has been meeting with us ever since. When I came he had a smoking problem and so we started to talk about this with him and tell him that he needed to stop in order to be baptized. In three months he quit. He was not smoking a little either it was a lot, but he had a change of heart and with the help of our Heavenly Father he has quit. Up to now he has gone three and a half weeks without smoking. I'm so grateful for this Gospel and for the fact that our Father in Heaven will always help us and forgive us if we do our part. I love this guy, after his baptism we went up to him and asked how he was feeling, and with tear filled eyes eyes he looked at both of us and said, "Thank you, thank you, I love you guys... I love this Gospel." I"ll send some photos of him.

Brother Li is awesome, I'm so grateful for the chance that I've had to help him. he has changed completely.

Last week My companion and I went to the second tallest building in the world, 101. We didn't go up in it because it was cloudy and we want to go up when it is a clear day to see the view and take as many photos as we want. So we thought that we where going to go up because it was ok in the morning but later on the clouds rolled in and so we decided to go another day when the weather was better. We did take some photos with it in the background. So later on we were walking back and then we see this Expo going on and we decide that we want to see what it is. Well we get to the entrance and the guards saw that we have to have a ticket and we didn't have one so we go back to see how much a ticket is. We learned that they were $150 quai, that's not a ton, but it's a bit high for something that we don't know what it is. So we decide that we are not going to go, but as we where about to leave this couple talks to my companion Elder Reynolds and gives him two tickets. Well we get in and it ends up being a Buddest art and carving expo. Fun stuff they had some cool things in there, among which were these three bells. Wow these bells where really cool they had Chinese dragons and other things on them. We are standing there thinking wow that would sound cool and would be sweet to have someday don't know where but wow that's cool. Well while we are standing there some people come up and ring the bell, the one in the back that is the largest and wow it sounded cool. Anyway we asked how much those bells where and well they are very expensive. But it was cool to see. Anyway that is what we did last week.

So this last week we have had the chance to do quite a bit of things. I'm so grateful for this chance to be here and share this with the world and bring his children back unto him. Here are the last of the photos for the week, most are of my companion. We have fun and do our best to work hard.

So what is Utah like lately? All the trees are changing color right? Or already have changed? It is hard to believe but this week is my year out here in Taiwan it's crazy. It has been a full year since I have been on American soil. Wow.

Thank you all so much for all that you do for me. For setting the example and always doing your best. Thank you so much. I need to write my Mission Pres but then I'll write another email before I log off.

This week my companion and I have been talking a lot about choices and the attitude that comes from every choice. My companion came up with a name for it, he calls it the Can and Can't, will and won't principle. The idea that our life should be about will and won't because it involves personal commitment to something, and when can and can't involves a lack of the ability to do something. There is a big difference. Anyway food for thought.

I need to go. I love you all.

You are awesome.

Happy Birthday Sara!

Sara you are awesome, Wow Eight years old, that is awesome. Happy birthday! Know that I love you. Baptism is very important. Just like Jesus we also need to be baptized, so we can be clean. That is what I do all that time is share that with everyone. Know that I love you and how I wish I could be there, smile big ok?

Awesome Family! Wow sounds like you all are having a great time and loving the things that your doing. Sounds like Grandpa's camp-out was a hit! I remember when you did it last year and that sounded fun, wow that's crazy that was last year... Right? Well, sounds like you all are staying fully in engaged and having a great time. Know that I love you and that you all are awesome. I love you all. I hope that Katie and Jeff will be ok. Let me know what happens there. Praying for the best.

This week was great. We didn't get to have a baptism because as we were getting ready for it last week we learned that he will need a second interview which couldn't happen last week, so we are trying. I am so glad to help him be baptized. He has quit smoking and has gone without smoking for two and a half weeks. I have faith that it can be soon but no promises. I am so grateful for the Atonement, because of the atonement we can change and get closer to our Father in Heaven and be happy. As he has quit it has been great to see the help that the Lord has given him, the promises in the Word of Wisdom are real. If I didn't have a testimony of that before I for certainly do have one now.

Yesterday was fun I got to do a baptismal interview for one of the sister's investigators. She will be baptized this weekend and so that will be fun to get people to. Also yesterday I need to thank you; we had an activity and invited a few people to come to have home made hamburgers and watch the Testaments. It was great. We had one of the families that we are teaching, more like a couple, come and watch. He has been learning about the church and studying it for along time now and he is so close to baptism. We also had a single guy who is a baker here that we are teaching come. He is also really close. We are hoping that next month that we will be able to help him be baptized. We also had two members come. I love this work! We watched the film and by the end there where several that where in tears. I am very grateful. Right after we had a short testimony sharing, where they all could say what they felt and what they liked and why. Almost everyone shared their feelings. I am so grateful for things like that to have some investigators that are so close to being baptized and be able to have a testimony meeting that was able to help them personally. It was great! Thank you for teaching me. My companion Elder Reynolds and I talked about it at the end and they all asked us who was paying for the meal and they all where very grateful for the meal. We came to the conclusion that if we had done it any other way the spirit at the start of the movie might have been different than it was because they all were very grateful and that made to easier for the Holy ghost to come and teach.

Wow, it is a small world after all. Gatchel is in England? I thought that he was in Rome? Anyway that is awesome. Wow it is crazy to think that he is out there but he is coming home somewhat soon. I mean it is still next year, wow crazy. I hope that he is doing well. That is awesome that your friend is doing well.

I love this work. I am so grateful for this chance to come and share this message with our Father in Heaven's children. I am so grateful for all that I have learned. and I have so much more to learn. I know that Jesus is the Christ and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I love them so much I am so grateful for them. I know that we are known and that no matter where we go or what we do, the they will always be there it help us.

Well, General Conference is here again and I as always I am excited to go and learn and hear the Prophets and Apostles that the Lord has called. It was interesting. This last week I met a kid who believes in Joseph Smith and in the Book of Mormon. Because he believes that our Heavenly Father will always guide us. But he believes that in 1998 a man here in Taiwan was called as a Prophet of God and he believes this man is the leader of the Lords church. It was interesting talking to him because he didn't know that our church has a prophet today. When we told him that he was shocked, because he was like there are probably not two different prophets on the earth today. It was interesting to see that the person that he said was his prophet taught them that they needed to meditate and when they meditate they think of words in their mind and that is their form of prayer. But when I used the word prayer and asked him if he had prayed before he said "Never." Interesting. I know our prophet President Thomas S. Monsen is Called of God to lead and guide us, and I can't wait to hear and learn more from him.

Well I need to go I love you all so much. Have a great week

Love you, Elder Harr

Success!

Success: by this point there are several of you that are really tired I'm sure how did it go? I hope that you all had a blast! I am doing great and I've got a lot to tell this week. We will start with that fact that I am not moving this transfer! Yes, the end of another transfer has come and I am staying. But I have some stories to tell.

Wednesday night, the Assistants called me and asked if I could take a new missionary out on Thursday night for two hours for his first night in the mission field. They told me that we had to have them back by about 8:30 or early enough that we could still be home by 9:00. So we made some changes to our schedule and went. We had a seven o-clock lesson and we where to be at the mission home at six. Our plan was to go back to our area and go to the lesson and try to do work, then go back and we would have to have him dropped off by 8:00 to we could be home by 9:00. We live in Tianmu which is about a 20 min subway ride away from the mission home; but the Subway is about 20 min from the mission home and about 5 to 10 min from our apartment. So it takes about an hour to get to the mission home. Well, we raced we ran the entire night! This is why: To be at the mission home by 5:45 like they told us to be, we had to leave our area by about 4:45. So that is no problem we can do it. 4:00 however we had a lesson planned with an investigator that usually comes late.... So we bought a thing we call bao1zi3 it is stuff wrapped in bread and then steamed for dinner. Tastes good. So we get out of the lesson on time we had a bike that we where going to use to help get this Elder to the appointment. We needed to stop at the house to get that and then go the the subway, but the helmet for the bike was at the church. We forgot to grab the helmet from the church and so we had to go back. It was about 4:50 at this point, and we had all the way to go to the mission home. Well we get to the mission home they tell us who we get to go out with that night and as soon as we know we take off running. We got to go with an Elder Hall and ya cool Elder. We get back and...

to be continued.

So we get back and we have enough time to do some contacting. I'm not sure how, but we did, and we had a great lesson with a yan2 and we taught him about reading the Book of Mormon. He is cool. Anyway long story short, we where able to to that and then be back by 9:10. At 9:00 however I get another phone call from the assistants. They asked me to be back to the mission office by 9:00 the next morning to pick up my new companion. Yup I am training again!! Fun stuff. OK, I need to back up for a sec.

I sent some photos of me making fun of the dress fashion here in Taiwan. They wear fake glasses all the time, you see them all the time and well, they look weird! My companion, Elder Miller, and I found some and bought them for 19 qual, like 30 cents and so I sent some of those photos.

I also sent some photos of the most recent baptism here in the Tianmu ward. It was a young man named zhong1 shi2 yong4. He is 14 and he is the first to be baptized in his family. Some of his best friends are members and the parents like the church. This is the first step that that family is taking to bring that family, their friends, into the church. He is cool and it has been fun to get to know him.

This last week I have had the opportunity to be offered a job at a bike store as a tour guide, office man and a sells rep! Cool thing. We are good friends with the local Giant bike shop and they apparently are looking for a person that can speak English and Chinese to take white people out on rides in the mornings and stuff. I told them that when I come back to Taiwan I will be there in a heart beat but this is more important right now. That is cool! I told them that and they said of you get in touch with us and you have a job when you come back. Fun stuff.

OK so now I've told you about Thursday, about fake glasses, about the job offer, about the fact that I'm training, oh, the Taiwanese Hobbs...
In my ward there is this brother that I think he and Hobbs must be like brothers or something because this brothers English name is Guava. He acts the same, speaks somewhat the same, except he is from Taiwan. If he was white I'd say they have to be brothers, funny. I met him and started to think who he seemed like and well it is Brother Hobbs.

So what else; My new companion is Elder Reynolds. He is from the Utah valley and he went to SVU. He is 19 years old and he is cool. He did some study abroad trips through SVU to China, and so he has been around. He is about 6"1', quite tall, but not that tall. So it will be a fun transfer. I put some photos of him in the emails earlier, so you can get a feel for him.

This last few days while we have been waiting for a bike to come for my companion we have been walking and man after walking for two days I'm going to be glad for a bike to ride again. I have mine, but my comapnions don't have theirs because one is coming and one just moved to a place called Ba1da2.

I am so grateful for this gospel. I am not sure how much more time I have today. I heard about that Elder you talked about and I heard that he is from ST George. He went to Pine view. I am not going to let that happen to me. I'll be careful, know that I love you all.

Thank you for the update on the family and the world. It is crazy that Virgina had that big of an earth quake. That's crazy. I hope that no one got hurt.

I know that this church is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that our Savior Jesus Christ lives and that through him we have a hope. I thank my Father in Heaven that I have this chance to be here.

Thank you for all that you do. I love you. Be safe, have fun and know that I love you

The Gospel is for Families

Wu2an1 huo4shi4 wan3an1? wo3 bu4 zhi1

Wow what a week sounds like you all are having fun and staying very busy. Sounds like you all are doing several great things. I love you all!

Cool hat Jakob wow you have changed, you have grown up so much. Sophia, your so cute, you have changed a lot. Wow sounds like you all are biking a lot. I bought a bike computer so I would know how far my companion and I were running in the morning. As far as I have seen so far we are not biking a ton, about 10 miles a day, not quite 40. That's awesome. Sounds like your getting ready. I forgot how long is it? I remember thinking that I would love to do it some time but I forgot some of those details.

So my companion and I have decided that we want to run, and so we have found a route that we want to run that starts at my house and is about 1.5 to 2 miles to the base of a hill then there is a hill/ mountain that starts by an exercise park in Tianmu it is called the Tianmu baseball Stadium and then fun to the College up on the hill called Wen Hua College, the biggest park that I have seen so far, then runs up an hill for about three miles. It is going to be fun. We have decided that we want to take the bikes up and drop then off at the top then use a bus to come down and then run back up. It will be sweet. We need to take some time doing it though and so it is going to be a Monday thing to do because unless we wake up really really early we can't do it in the morning before studies. So I'm trying to stay in shape somewhat, trying to follow your example. Dad did you get your bike fixed? ha ha we have broken so many things on bikes. I have decided that Specialized should have our family be a tester family if it can make is through us it is good to go.

So talk to me Liesl and Chandler are going to high school and college? Last I heard Liesl was looking at BYU Idaho. I'm guessing that that didn't go through? Are you staying at Dixie state Liesl? Ok. Sounds like you all are getting going, school starts this week?

This week we had a great week! We have been teaching a lot, we are going to try to keep that up. This week we have found a few family's that we have met with already once and they are going to keep meeting with us. This week we also found other family's that we will get to meet with this week. I'm excited about that. This message really is about families and helping our families be happy and develop greater relationships than we currently have. These families are cool. We will see how interested they all are later on in the week but it seems like they are all willing to meet and learn.

This week I got to do one of my first real exchanges. Last transfer I got to do them, but it was with the Zone leaders. This transfer I have Shipai in my district, so I get to get exchanges with them. This week was fun and we had a good exchange and I think that we both learned a lot. Something that we both talked about was the power of prayer, and of specific prayer. This week we have been praying to find a family with a 10 year old son. The Shipai Elders have been praying for a person that lives in their area that is humble and that is willing to meet and pray to the Father. They think they found him this week. We found several family's with 10 year old sons this week. I believe that the Lord loves us and that we can do all with His help.

WOW you all are doing so may great things. I'm sorry to hear about a funeral this week, that is not fun, thank you everyone for helping out. Sounds like you all are making memories, having fun. Thank you for all that you do.

I'm sorry that I have no photos today. I'll have some next week though. Today we want to go up to yang Ming shan,Yang Ming mountain, and see what is up there. So I should have some photos from up there. Wow I love the photos. You all are so awesome, so active and having fun. Thank you for your prayers and for helping so many people.

Love you all so much. Talk to you next week.

Trainer, District Leader, Games for Ward Party

Hello Awesome family,
Wow what a week a lot happened. Sounds like you all are doing a lot too. Sounds like you all are having fun and making memories, that's great. How is Heber? Sounds like you all are having fun. It is hot here but it sounds like it is hot there as well but still a different kind of hot. People here are always asking if it is hot in America and what do we do when it is 110 degree Fahrenheit. I just smile and say we go to the lake and go wake boarding and that's about when they ask me "What is that?" It is really funny, they are all people that would stay inside and play computer games than go out and see what there is outside. Sometimes they go out, but it is not for the same kind of reasons.

So I've sent you some photos of some things. The first one is a photo of some calligraphy that one of our investigators did for us because we told him that we could possibly be moving. He painted that letter it is pretty good. He came to a baptism that we had last Saturday night for one of the sister's investigators.

Next photo thank you so much. That package was awesome! We love the coon skin hats! Thank you for the cookies. We didn't have any milk, so we made do with what we had. Thank you for that stuff. You all are so awesome. The root beer extract will definitely be used and loved by many. Thank you!

Another photo that I sent was of a spider that is huge. Last Saturday we went to a ward activity up in the mountains. Those spiders where everywhere. They were cool because there was so many of them the mosquito's weren't that big of a problem. Fun photo!

At the ward activity we had a BBQ and that was fun. I think I need to back up to Thursday to help you understand a bit of what happened...

Last week I have had fun and we have been working hard. Last week was the end of another transfer and that means about 8 or 9 left wow crazy. Time is going by quickly. We where working hard, trying to do our best going to meetings and getting things done, telling people that we might be moving this week, stuff like that. Then on Thursday night at about 9:10 I got a phone call from the assistants. It is kinda funny because Thursday night are trainer calls and we had been back in our apartment for a bit and I had just thought "Sweet, I have another transfer or two where I don't have to train," but I got the call! I get to train an Elder Miller. He is fresh here in Taiwan and he is excited and worried about everything that comes with going to the field and wanting to do his best. He is from Atlanta, Georgia. He is the oldest of two children and he went to study at BYU Provo for a year and a half before his mission started back in May. He's cool. He is a runner and hiker and so we will get along alright. I went to pick him up on Friday morning and that took most of the morning and afternoon, we got back and had some time before I had a baptismal interview. We threw his stuff at home and got to work. Later that night after the interview I got a call from the Elders Quorum President at like 7 on Friday night. He asked me to put on two hours of activity's for a ward event on Saturday. I was about to leave on splits with the Ward Mission leader and so just agreed that I could pull something togethethat was like OK not what. luckily I have a great family that plays and does big events for lots of people all the time and so I was able to pull some stuff together and it came out a success. We played the hoo-la-hoop game where you race and pass it around the circle. We played human knot, and did a few relays. We played the magic shoes game. It all took about two hours. It was interesting because the Elders quorum president said that I should plan on 80 people to do activity's with, in the end I think that we might have had 30 to 35 people who actually took part. Fun stuff. Thank you for teaching me how to have big party's.

So this what follows here was part of my letter to President, this was cool:

This last week we tried to work hard we had a bunch of people set up and then toward the start of the week they all stood us up. Not the funnest thing in the world but it happens. This last week I thought a lot about what it means to be successful. There where a few times when I had a wake up call as a reminder of how blessed we are. For example this last week we where contacting on one of our major streets here in Tian Mu. I asked a gentlemen if he was happy and he told me "No he was not." I asked him why he was not happy and he told me that with in the last year his wife had died and his son was killed in a car crash. He was not happy because he missed them so much and wanted to be with them. I took this opportunity to talk to him and tell him that he would see this wife again and his Son and that it is all possible though the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He really is the way. He can help everyone. This was one of the many times that I felt that I was doing what I was called to do because when he told me about his family I felt so much love for this man that I have never met before. I am so blessed to know that this is real. It is not a thing that comes and goes. It is more than just a good made up story. It is real. It will change lives.

So two weeks ago I had interviews with President. He told me my two dates to go home, wow crazy. He didn't ask me when I want to go home but it's probably time to start thinking about if I want to extend or not. The first day is July 3rd and the second day is 6 weeks later Aug 9th? I'm not thinking a lot about it but because this decision needs to be made sometime or later we can start thinking and praying about it. What do you think? Those dates are flight days, I would leave in the morning here and get there at night there. Something like that. I think that it is going to be influenced a lot by when college starts. So think about that. Wow time is gone. I got to work hard with what I have left!

Thank you for the package. I loved the photos. So many have changed. People are growing up wow!

Well I need to go awesome family. Have fun in Salt lake and I'll talk to you all next week.

Love you,

Elder Harr

Contact, contact, and more contacting!

Awesome family wow your running so fast remember to breath! It sounds like your all very busy doing so many things remember that I love you and pray that you all are doing good.

Wow 38 cubs to the shooting range wow that's so many. You always are doing so much good. It sounds like you are running lots of water around. When I left we had like 6 stops now it sounds like you have more and you are very busy keeping them filled. Keep doing good, keep running and catch a breath every now and then!

Wow, lets see this week there was a ton that happened, so here it goes...
Monday: for p-day we wanted to take my bike to get it fixed and so I pulled the money to go and do it because Monday is a day that we could have be slower and we would be able to pick it up on Tuesday morning, right? Nope because they are not opened on Mondays! And they don't open until Tuesday... I thought the website said was 11:00am. OK, so because Tuesday was a busy day and it needed to happen Monday night I striped my bike and got it ready to just switch out the frame. I decided that by the time I got it up there and dropped it off and rode the very little bike around for a day and a half and then rode back there to pick it up the time would be a bit quicker if I just did it, and and so I did! Monday night I took of all the stuff and got it ready for the transfer and then I rode to the bike shop Tuesday morning. We didn't have anything planed on Tuesday morning and so we said well lets contact up to the bike shop, pick up the frame, and then during lunch I can put it all back together. Well, they didn't open until 1:00 and so we decided to lock it to a pole and then go and do work we while we are waiting. We contacted some people and were trying to teach them but nobody wants to or has time to stop for very long and talk and so we didn't get much done. We took a later lunch and picked up the frame, and then went home to put it back together quickly. It was good because we needed to update some records and make some calls that my companion did while I was finishing up. It looked great. I didn't get a picture of the bike right after I put it together on this card so I'll send that next week. I got it all back together and working in about an hour and 15 min. Good timing! So that was through Tuesday afternoon.

Tuesday: so once we get it together we had a less active that we needed to go and visit. So we went to find the address OK. We get there, he opens the door and sees its us and says "hi" and tries to open the door but his door is a key lock on both sides. You need a key to get in and out. Funny. Well this was a older man, like late 70's early 80's and he reached for his keys to let us in and they where not there. He didn't have his keys to get in and out. Funny were standing there, excited to get to talk to him and get to know him, but he can't let us in because he lost his keys. So when he sees that they are not there he turns around and tries to find them, and tries to remember where he put them. H can't find them, so he comes back to the door and asks us if they are on the outside of the door. They weren't there. He looked at us and said "Sorry," then he used his hand to hit is head lightly saying I don't remember where I put them. "I'm sorry can you come back another day?" Funny. This poor older man, locked in his house. We asked him if he would be OK and if there was someone else who had a key and he said "no, that he lived by himself and that he could not remember where they where, but that he would be fine and to go and to come back another day." Oh funny.

Wednesday was a busy day. In the afternoon we had district meeting and that went smoothly. The mission is focusing on unity especially in Mosiah 24 and 25, and how that story can help us be more unified and one in purpose and in our goals. It is good we all need to know that the Lord calls leaders to help us and we all need to follow him and and trust that this is the Lord's will at this time. It does not mean that they are perfect but it does mean that they are called and we all need to be unified. So that is the mission focus for this month. After district meeting we had English meeting and English class. Went smoothly, my companion and I teach the kids and so last time we took a bunch of small things and put them in a bag and had them try to describe it to the class. Once they had all done one we played uno.

Thursday: In the morning at 8:30 my companion had a training meeting that he had to go to. I went on exchanges with Elder Child's. He is the one who kicked me out of shipai and he is still there. It is crazy. I am on my 4th area. He has been there for 6 transfers now. So we went on exchanges and tried to do work. We talked to a bunch of people and didn't find anything. We tried to find contacts until lunch and then we went to eat lunch and wait for our companions to get back because at 1:00 we have WPS ( Weekly planing session). It's a mission rule that it starts at one and so we have lunch and we call them up and and they are still there at the training. We talked for a bit and decided to go and do work. They called, and we got started late like 2:30. That night was booked, but sadly all the appointments cancelled on us or they stood us up. That's the story of a missionary trying to meet with people and they "fang Ni de gezi" "stand you up!"

Friday we where able to hit the road and go and do some good street contacting. We went on exchanges with the Zone leaders and were contacting. We worked hard and he tried to really testify. It was all rejection for us. We found a few people who said that they might have time that they could meet later and so that was good. We had a kid that set up on Sunday but he stood us up. He did call us 25 min latter and said "oh sorry my dad won't let me go." That's too bad I wonder sometimes why people don't show. This kinda opened another view for me... the Taiwan culture is that you don't get married until you are about 30. You have a good job, you have a house and you have some money in the bank, so when they are under 26 they are still treated like little kids in that they cannot do anything without asking permission. It is different. We have had a 50 year old men tell us that his parents will not let him meet with us. Different.

Saturday more of the same it had been raining for awhile and so we did some tracting and didn't see a ton of success. We did find some but no one would set up or really talk to us. I know that there are prepared people out there I know it. I Know that we will be lead to them if we listen to the Holy Ghost. I also know that they have their agency and they get to choose how they want to spend it.

Sunday was a busy day. In the morning we had mm meeting where we talk to the ward mission leader and report to him on what we are doing in the ward. Then church and then race to the park where we wait for ten min to be stood up and then to give the sacrament to an brother in a wheel chair that cannot come to church every week. I am so grateful for a healthy body. Then back to the church because a member brought a 15 year old friend that he he wants us to meet with then because they where in a fireside. We had to set up another time because at 3:30 my companion had to teach the Zone leaders to pass off Chinese stuff then back to the church to be stood up. Then home for a quick lunch at 5:30 because at 6:00 we have another lesson, but that gets canceled too. We had a meal then went out contacting and met some interesting people that say things like destroy church over and over again. We had an older man telling us that we are wrong but may the Lord bless us for trying. Just the old mission stuff that happens all the time.

Love you. Thank you for all that you do. Sorry time is going out

Love you. Thank you. Thank you.

4th of July Party Report, Bike and Two Baptisms!

Hey Awesome Family:

You all are awesome. I love you. How have you been?

I am doing good it was good to hear about the 4th of July party. It sounds like it was a success. Sounds like you had a bunch of people come, that's awesome. Thank you for your example. I had a blast here on the 4th. We made hot dogs and smores. It was fun. I'll attach the photos that I took. I made the picture size smaller and so I can put more photos on at once. We'll see if it works. Let me know if you can open it all. So for our 4th I thought about you all because we played the Sign game and the Tie game. Then we watched Cars. We all talked. We drank about 4 gallons of root beer, that was a big hit and we all got to have fun getting to know everyone.

I'll write some more about this week in a sec. Today I get to go and pick up my new frame. I'm excited, but they are telling me that it is going to cost about $6000 quai about $200 US to change all the stuff over. I've been thinking about it and I'm going to try to do it myself. That is a lot of money. I could move all the parts over myself and then take it to them and they could tune it up, and it would be the same right? What do you think?

Dad, I love you. I AM so grateful to be your son. Thank you for all the good and the hard work that you do for all of us and for the example that you set. Thank you so much for working so hard for us and together with mom teaching us to do hard things because in the end we come out stronger. I love you Happy Birthday.

Ok so where to start: The Party was a great success. We didn't have hundreds of people like you had but we had about 15 people there. It was way fun. Thank you for teaching me.

This week I am grateful for the meaning of life. Last night I went to visit a man who is a less active to try to help him out. He is sick he has something wrong with his heart and his brain. He is almost 65 years old and when we where talking to him he told us that he feels that his life is done. He feels like all that he needs to do is done and so he is ready to die. So we got asking him some questions and he told us that because he doesn't follow all the commandments that he is a bad person and that our Father in Heaven doesn't want him. Wow. I have always heard about stories where the person feels Gods love for someone and I have not felt part of it before, but when he said that I felt such an out pouring of love for this man, I told him that his Father of Heaven had not forgotten about him. I told him about the story of Alma and told him that if God wouldn't forget someone like Alma He won't forget him. I know that we are loved and that we are known. I know that He lives and loves us.

I got a couple of emails so to be continued....

So that was the most spiritual experience this week. This Gospel is true and it is world wide. OK so I need to tell you about some photos. I included some photos of some park exercise equipment. At every park there is stuff like it here. I know that someone is always looking for Eagle projects and so I thought that I would take these and get them to you. I know that Chandler already did his project but someone might need a project and so here is an Idea.

I included a photo of me in a phone booth. They are everywhere here in Tianmu. It is cool this place is really like America. I love it. This work is true. Thank you for all that you do for me. Thank you for your help. I love you. Tell everyone that I love them. Thank you for teaching me to do hard things.

This week also I got to help the sisters baptize an 11 year old Girl. It was cool. My first interview as an district leader asked me to baptize her. It was cool. I also got to help baptize an older women. In Chinese we call her Grandma. She was so cool. So I included those photos. That was last Friday. So I just included a photo of my church building in Shilin so you could see what is looks like. It is kinda crazy to think that I have a friend back there who served in this same church building, fun stuff.

On my bike, I will take it to them but there are some things that I need to fix on it. Last transfer I replaced the back brakes it's time to to do the front. Also a few other things. I'll talk to them try to get a better deal, and we'll see what happens.

Sorry today I didn't write a ton next week I will do better and I'll try to have some more photos. I love you. I know that this church is true. I was telling someone about growing up and loving it. And how we learned to do hard things because the witness comes after the trial of our faith. Thank you for your example.

How is Jared doing? I haven't heard from him at all. He can email me, it might make it easier for him to get in touch. I hope that he is well.

I hope that everyone is healthy and happy, S, B, S, J and S give Mom and Dad a hug for me. Love you.

Love you Elder Harr
