Hey awesome family. How was your Sunday?
This week was crazy! It has been the most busy and exciting weeks in my mission so far! This week we (My companion and I) where able to meet with a lot of people on the street and share with them, then a lot of them set up for later for next week, so next week should be good as well. One of the way cool experiences this week was with a Spanish man named David. David grew up in the church and had a very strong Catholic family. he said that when he was home he had a very strong faith in Christ and in our Heavenly Father. When he came to Taiwan he felt that he could look at something and have a personal choice, he didn't have to worry about what his friends thought because he had none, he didn't have to worry about what his Mom or his Dad thought because they where not there. Anyway he quit going to church, he quit praying and he quit reading the scriptures. So the Elders before us had found him and had met with him once, where he was given a Book of Mormon and a invitation to read it. then he met with us. When he met with us he told us a lot of what he had told the other missionary's, he said that he thought Faith was just a was to trick your mind into believing something and that he once had had a very strong faith. so we talked about faith with him and shared testimony with him. we asked him so think about his life, about the time that he had had faith; he told us that that was the most happy time of his life, and that he was not sure why, he said that it might have been as a direct result of his faith but he wasn't sure. so we talked about Moroni and how he said that Every good thing comes from God, and how we need to thank him for it; then we talked about the Holy Ghost. Anyway, at the end of the meeting we had made friends and we needed to rush to another place for another lesson. But right at the end of our lesson, we said a closing prayer, we asked him to help us say it. He started very simply and then moved into him heart, it was a very heart felt prayer. in it he expressed how he was not sure anymore if He really existed and said " if you exist, I would like to know, but I am going to need a pretty big answer". He ended the prayer and we sat there with out moving. He started to cry. Here was this 22 year old college kid, and he was crying, we sat there for a couple of minuets and he said sorry, I didn't know what is wrong, I'm just real confused right now. David felt the Power of the Holy Ghost. we had to go and rush to another lesson, but that was probably the most spiritual experience this week, was seeing a child of our Father in heaven, ask if He existed... cool experience.
Well now the fun part. "What goes up... Must come down". We were a little late getting out from an earlier appointment to go and see David. So we flew. Normally, it would take a 15-20 minute bike ride to get from where we where to the college where we were going to meet, we did it in 7-8 minutes. Then we where late getting out from that appointment and had to race back to the church which was farther away than where we had started before the lesson by about a mile, but was all down hill. This trek was done in 7 minutes. It was fun. We where flying and it was in traffic. Don't worry we were being careful, and we are still alive to share the tale, but we were going fast, passing cars and scooters left and right..... fun stuff.
Ok next we met so many cool people this week it is so much fun to get to know them. and get to share the Gospel with them.
So Last week I was contacting by a little river and I saw theses I wanted to catch one of each and give the 743 to Jakob and the 742 to Sara. what do you all think? those Frogs are HUGE Right? ok so if you can't tell those frogs are just alittle bit smaller than a vollyball, and bigger than a softball. What do you think?
Ok so I shared about David and the Racing expereance. that was on Tuesday.
Guess what. on staturday night I went to Costco. I know that is not huge news but it was the first time in the last 7 months crazy. we went there for dinner and to buy stuff for Sunday dinner. we found some stuff and then I had a Costco hot dog for dinner. yep a good old Costco hot dog. it is kinda funny and because people in Taiwan do not really know what a Hot dog is. If you go to a store and try to find hot dogs. if they have them they are no bigger than your finger. so they don't really know what they are. also they do not believe in buns. Hot Dog, or Hamburger buns, ya nope none at all. unless you can find a hidden store in the back of somewhere it is really hard to find them. Anyway Costco was fun. it is in my area and the food court is pretty cheep, so I think that we will be going there weekly? don't know we will see.
The photos of Sophia are cool. I showed my companion photos of her and he liked her dark hair, it is not so dark anymore. I told him that depending on how old we are has an influence on our hair color. she is 5 month's old right?
FYI, this time is about the time that we will be emailing throughout the transfer so just so you can know, have an Idea.
Today I got to read a letter from the Webb's. they are so good to me. if you see then this week will you thank them? I'll write them a letter but sometimes it is slow I'm not sure how long it will take to get there. I have letters that have gotten here in in a week from the post date on the letter, but I also get letters that are like a month old. so it is an unknown problem.
How is Grandma Harr doing, is her knee doing better? I hope so.
How is Grandpa Val and Granny doing? they still comeing down every week? I hope they are doing well.
You said that you have subs in the building, the sheet rock is done? how is that coming along?
WOW YOu are getting Snow today Crazy. I am glad that the Building is Dryed in as well.
I am doing well I have three long sleeves and the cold part of the year is over. it is going to be good. the people here think that it is freezing and they can't believe that I am not cold, but in reality utah is freazing. taiwan is warmer than St George and Virgina. I am lucky to have had a chance to expereance a humid cold in Virgina, because there is a diffrence. so I'm good. Mom I'v thought about you as I go to scrub my shirts and think of how nice you are to all of us thank you for all your help.
Well I need to go. you are awesome, have fun, Smile.
黄長老 Elder Harr
我愛你 I love you.
Chandler:
I am sorry to hear about soccer. You are awesome, you don't get down ok. Don't give up. Keep playing keep practicing and working. There are alot of people who don't make the cuts their starting years but then come back and are stars. I'm sorry that it is hard. stay happy, be happy. You can still have fun and have friends and be you without being on a team. Have fun. Meet new people and keep playing. Keep having fun. You could go to the coach and say thank you for a shot. Whanks for looking at me. what do I need to do to improve? What do I need to do better. They will talk to you and they will most likly tell you what you did good as well.
Well I need to go soon. I love you all. you are all awesome
